Celebration\ Observance
People will celebrate the days by throwing powdered colors as well as spraying color on one another, dancing, singing and enjoying food . The night before the festival many will attend a large bonfire called Holika bonfire and pray and wish for evil to be destroyed. Much of the celebrations take place outdoors in the parks, streets, temples and large open spaces in the cities.
History
Holi can find it origins as far back as the 4th century India with the rule of Chandragupta II by the poet Kalidasa in the Puranas. It is also mentioned in the 7th century and later in the 17th century in Oxford English Dictionary.
