Many Filipinos will limit listening to music, eating meat, drinking alcohol on this day. Christian and Catholic people will attend church and mass and spend some of the day in prayer. The day is a national holiday with government and most businesses closed.
History
Hundreds of years ago the Spanish came to the Philippines and brought their Christian religion. Over time the Filipino population gave up its pagan beliefs and took on Christian beliefs.
