Chung Yeung Festival in Hong Kong is celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month and celebrates a legend in which the Han Dynasty had a soothsayer advise the Woon King to take his family to a high place for the entire ninth day of the ninth moon escaping death in the town below.

Tradition on this day is to fly kites because kites and take bad luck away when flying in the sky. Many people take this day to enjoy the outdoors hiking and picnics.
History
This day is based on a legend of the soothsayer advising the Woon King to take his family to a high place for the ninth day of the ninth moon and later the King returned to find his towns people all dead. It is considered good luck to go to a high place on this day.
